Dr. Chinmaya Kumar Dehury, an Assistant Professor from University of Tartu, Estonia is visiting us during 20-07-2023 until 22-07-2023. He will be delivering a lecture on 21st July 2023 at 11:00, in New Seminar Room EB 207/8, SCIS, University of Hyderabad. Title: Harmonizing Diversity across Edge-Cloud Computing Continuum Summary: The edge-cloud computing continuum empowers seamless data processing and analysis, blending the power of edge computing and cloud computing into a unified force of innovation. In this context, diversity encompasses a range of factors, including varied perspectives, backgrounds, expertise, and devices. By recognizing the value of diverse contributions, the aim is to create an inclusive environment where the power of the edge-cloud computing continuum can be harnessed to its fullest potential. One of the key challenges in building an inclusive environment lies in managing the heterogeneity of devices and networks at the edge. With the proliferation of IoT devices and computing nodes at different hierarchy, each with varying capabilities and constraints, ensuring seamless integration and interoperability becomes paramount. Standardization efforts, such as the development of common protocols and frameworks, play a vital role in addressing this challenge. By establishing an inclusive environment, it becomes possible to orchestrate and seamlessly manage the lifecycle of diverse devices and networks, enabling efficient data exchange and processing. An array of research challenges, including edge-to-cloud orchestration and collaboration, clustered edge intelligence, scalability and elasticity, data pipeline, cross-domain integration, standardization and interoperability, and energy efficiency, must be addressed in order to realize the potential of the edge-cloud continuum and will be the primary focus of this talk.
